Unit History
Organized at Natchez on April 30, 1862.
It was armed with two 6-lb. Smoothbores and two 12-lb. Howitzers at its organization.
Battery surrendered after Confederate defeat at the Battle of Vicksburg on July 4, 1863.
Paroled at Vicksburg in July 1863.
Declared exchanged on September 12, 1863.
Reorganized and designated as the 1st Mississippi Battery.
