Organized at Hartford October 24 to November 14, 1861. Left State for Annapolis, Md., December 16, and duty there until January 6, 1862. Battle of South Mountain September 14. Battle of Antietam September 16-17. Duty at Pleasant Valley, Md., until October 27. Movement to Falmouth, Va., October 27-November 19. Battle of Fredericksburg, Va., December 12-15. Burnside's 2nd Campaign, "Mud March," January 20-24, 1863. Moved to Newport News, Va., February 6-9, thence to Suffolk March 13. Regiment lost during service 8 Officers and 140 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 176 Enlisted men by disease. Total 325.
