Organized for one year on April 20, 1861.
Early in the war mustered as a company in the 4th Artillery Regiment, which failed to complete its organization.
From May 31, 1861 through July 21, 1861, battery was armed with four 6-lb. Rifles.
Per S.O. #209, Adjutant and Inspector General's Office, dated October 4, 1862, the Monroe "Dixie" Artillery Battery disbanded and the men and horses were assigned to this battery as were 34 men from the Bedford Artillery.
Armed with four 12-lb. Napoleons between July 1, 1863 and December 28, 1864.
Surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865.
