Surrendered by Lt. Gen. Richard Taylor, commanding the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana, at Meridian, Mississippi on May 4, 1865.

Capt. Montgomery’s Company of Scouts, aka Mississippi Scouts, and aka Montgomery’s Scouts (raised in Hinds County, MS) [no company letter designation specified]

Lieutenant-Colonel -- George W. Stubbs. Major -- George W. Stubbs, May 16, 1864; promoted 17 November 1864. Quartermaster -- William Norwood. Assistant Surgeon -- W. D. Bragg.

This battalion of State Cavalry, Reserves, was listed in August and, later, 1864, Maj. George W. Stubbs commanding, with Wood's Brigade, Wirt Adams' Cavalry, district north of Homochitto River. The battalion participated in the battle of Griffith's (Mabry's) Brigade with Osband’s expedition, December 1, 1864, at Concord Church, near Yazoo City. Discharged March 15, 1865.
