Unit History

Organized in early 1862.
Regiment surrendered after the Confederate defeat at the Battle of Vicksburg on July 4, 1863.
Paroled at Vicksburg in July 1863
Declared exchanged on September 12, 1863.
It was armed with four 12-lb. Napoleans on May 1, 1864.
Surrendered by Lt. Gen. Richard Taylor, commanding Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana, at Citronelle, Alabama on May 4, 1865.
