Brief History

Organized by the increasing of Moreland's Cavalry Battalion to a regiment prior to June 10, 1864. As a cavalry regiment attached to Johnson's and Roddey's Brigades, Moreland's fought against the Sturgis Mississippi Expedition (1-13 June 1864) and took part in battles at Brice's Crossroads (10 June 1864), Tupelo (14 July 1864) and against Wilson's Raid (22-24 March 1865). They were surrendered with the Dept. of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana, at Citronelle, AL, on 4 May 1865.
