Brief History

Organized with only 5 companies on 7 Sept 1864 and surrendered with the rest of the Dept. of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana, by Gen'l Richard Taylor, at Citronelle, 4 May 1865

Company "A" was organized on 11 May 63 from Local Defense and Special Service; Co. "C" was organized on 13 June 64; and Co. "E" was organized on 1 Aug 64. No information is provided on the other two companies, "B" and "D".

Co. "A" officers: Joseph Hardie (promoted); George M. Bonner (capt.); John Donahoe (1st Lt.); John J. Tauk (2nd Lt.); and J. F. B. Mayes (2nd Lt.)

Co. "C" (according to a report of 15 March 1865, 23 men of the 32nd/58th AL Consolidated Regt deserted and joined this company) officers: Ezekial Stewart (capt.); Joseph Hargett (1st Lt.); and Joseph Stepp (2nd Lt.)

Co. "E" officers: John B. Rogers (capt.); Theo. N. Cobia (1st Lt.); Evan P. Maddox (2nd Lt., resigned 30 Jan 63); and Benjamon Clement (2nd Lt.)
